My brother is a visionary. When you look at his business from a distance you might not think that, but the man has business savvy and an understanding of leveraging technology to encourage business growth that is unmatched in his profession (I am a bit biased of course).
My brother is a bankruptcy attorney.
I know what you’re thinking, how does one utilize technology and social media to build one’s bankruptcy practice? Well a few years back, my brother decided to start a blog about bankruptcy and credit issues. He was a young guy, just starting his practice, and needed to show that he in fact knew what he was talking about. What better way to give peace of mind to a potential client and show your expertise in a subject than to write informative posts and helpful suggestions?
The result was a jump in his close ratio, and an excellent reputation throughout the legal community. His close ratio was roughly 50% when dealing with a potential client who had not read his blog, but an astounding 80% with those who had read his blog.
The moral to the story? Blogging is a highly effective communication medium that will lift you out of obscurity and show your desired customer base that you have the knowledge and expertise to meet their needs.
